Column 4.10.307

A large Corinthian half column for grand entrances and facades, 644 mm wide and 327 mm deep, and about 3531 mm tall as supplied. It is half-round in plan, so it sits flat against the wall. The capital is a grand Corinthian capital, deeply carved with tiers of acanthus leaves and corner volutes. Rather than one long shaft, the fluted shaft is built from stacked sections, so Gaudi give it no fixed height: add or remove 700 mm sections to suit the building. The set is made up of Capital 4.15.302, Shaft 4.16.003, 3 × Shaft 4.16.004, Shaft 4.16.005 and Base 4.17.002, and each part is also sold on its own.

Made in lightweight polyurethane foam, it won’t rot or swell in the rain the way timber can. Use Joint Adhesive 290ml (G07.S.290) or Joint Adhesive 60ml (G08.S.60) on the joints between the parts and Multipurpose Adhesive 290ml (G10.U.290) to fix it in place. Outdoors, finish it with a good exterior masonry paint once it is fixed; the painted finish protects the surface from sun and weather. Like all polyurethane decor it is decorative rather than structural: it cannot hold up a porch roof, canopy, balcony or any other load, so it must never stand in for a real column or post.
