Classical Facade Ornaments
These facade caps are the carved ornaments that turn a plain entablature into a true classical composition. Gaudi class them as applied, or cover, elements: small pieces fixed onto the frieze and under the cornice to give a facade the detail of a stone original.
What's in the Range
- Triglyphs: the grooved upright blocks that repeat along a Doric frieze, sized to match Gaudi's facade friezes.
- Regulae: narrow strips with a row of small pegs (guttae) that sit beneath each triglyph.
- Mutules: pegged plates fixed under a Doric cornice above each triglyph.
- Modillions: small scrolled brackets that repeat under a Corinthian cornice.
Why Polyurethane?
Each ornament is lightweight polyurethane foam, fixed with adhesive, with none of the weight or cost of carved stone. They won't rot or crack in the rain. Every piece arrives white and should be finished with a good exterior masonry paint once fixed; the painted finish protects the surface from sun and weather and lets you match the colour of your render or stonework. Like all polyurethane decor they are decorative, so they must not be used to carry any load.
Build the Entablature
Use them with our friezes and architraves, decorative entablature and exterior cornices to create a full classical band over an entrance or along a facade. Browse the collection below and order for delivery across Ireland.
