Window Sills

Window sills, or window ledges, give a window a finished base and a strong shadow line on the facade. Choose from bold rounded, stepped and beaded profiles in 2 m lengths, each with matching end pieces that close the ends neatly, and pair them with a window surround on the other three sides. Made from lightweight, moisture-resistant polyurethane, they give the look of stone without the weight, and are finished with exterior masonry paint. They dress the facade and do not replace the window’s own sill or weathering.

Window Sills for a Finished Facade

A decorative window sill, or window ledge, gives a window a proper base on the outside of the house, with a strong shadow line that makes the opening look framed and complete. It is one of the simplest ways to add period character to a plain rendered facade or to match new windows to an older elevation.

Choosing a Profile

The range includes bold rounded profiles, stepped profiles and beaded profiles in 2 m lengths, from about 94 mm to 160 mm high. Each profile has its own end piece (Gaudi call it an endwall element) that closes the cut end neatly either side of the window, so most windows need one length and two end pieces.

Why Polyurethane?

The sills are made from lightweight polyurethane foam, so they give the look of stone without the weight, and they won't rot or crack in the rain. They cut with standard tools and are fixed with adhesive. Every piece arrives white and should be finished with a good exterior masonry paint once fixed; the painted finish protects the surface from sun and weather and lets you match the colour of your render or stonework. Note that they dress the facade beneath the window: they do not replace the window's own sill, flashing or weathering, which should stay in place.

Complete the Window

Frame the other three sides with a window surround, add a keystone at the head, or set small pedestal corbels under each end of the sill. Browse the collection below and order for delivery across Ireland.
