Shaft 4.16.003

A shaft section for an exterior half column: the fluted top section, finished with a moulded collar, 435 mm wide, 354 mm high and 216 mm deep. Gaudi build their tallest columns from stacked sections rather than one long shaft, so the height can be set by the number of 700 mm sections you use. Half-round in section, it sits flat against the wall. It is part of Column 4.10.206 and Column 4.10.307, and is sold separately for repairs, replacements or your own combination of parts.

Like the rest of the facade range it is polyurethane foam: light, moisture resistant and supplied white, ready to paint. Bond it to the neighbouring parts with Joint Adhesive 290ml (G07.S.290) or Joint Adhesive 60ml (G08.S.60), and use Multipurpose Adhesive 290ml (G10.U.290) where it meets the wall or ground. Outdoors, finish it with a good exterior masonry paint once it is fixed; the painted finish protects the surface from sun and weather. Like all polyurethane decor it is decorative rather than structural: it cannot hold up a porch roof, canopy, balcony or any other load, so it must never stand in for a real column or post.
