Column 4.10.205

A large Ionic half column for grand entrances and facades, 635 mm wide and 270 mm deep, and 2908 mm tall. It is half-round in plan, so it sits flat against the wall. The capital is a large Ionic capital with deep scrolled volutes and an egg-and-dart band. Rather than one long shaft, the smooth shaft is built from stacked sections, so Gaudi give it no fixed height: add or remove 700 mm sections to suit the building. The set is made up of Capital 4.15.202, Upper trunk fragment 4.16.001, 3 × Trunk fragment 4.16.002 and Base 4.17.002, and each part is also sold on its own.

Gaudi make it in polyurethane foam, which is light, moisture resistant and supplied white, ready for painting. Join the parts with Joint Adhesive 290ml (G07.S.290) or Joint Adhesive 60ml (G08.S.60) and fix it with Multipurpose Adhesive 290ml (G10.U.290). Outdoors, finish it with a good exterior masonry paint once it is fixed; the painted finish protects the surface from sun and weather. Like all polyurethane decor it is decorative rather than structural: it cannot hold up a porch roof, canopy, balcony or any other load, so it must never stand in for a real column or post.
