The fluted pilaster leg used in the plain 1.64.100 surround, 152 mm wide and 859 mm high, projecting 170 mm. Two are needed for a complete surround, one each side, with the mantel header Fireplace Surround 1.64.004 across the top. The set is also sold complete as Fireplace Surround 1.64.100.

Moulded in polyurethane foam, it is far lighter than a stone or cast surround and fixes with adhesive: use Multipurpose Adhesive 290ml (G10.U.290) to the wall and Joint Adhesive 60ml (G08.S.60) where the parts meet. It arrives white and can be painted any colour, including stone and marble effects. Gaudi call these decorative fireplaces: polyurethane is not a heat-resistant or fire-rated material, so check the clearances required around any live fire, stove or insert with your installer before fitting.
