The mantel header from the ornate 1.64.101 surround: a shaped beam with a scrolled apron and a carved rosette at its centre, 1303 mm wide and 313 mm high, projecting 221 mm. This is the top piece on its own. Add the two legs, Fireplace Surround 1.64.002 and Fireplace Surround 1.64.003, or buy the complete set as Fireplace Surround 1.64.101.

Moulded in polyurethane foam, it is far lighter than a stone or cast surround and fixes with adhesive: use Multipurpose Adhesive 290ml (G10.U.290) to the wall and Joint Adhesive 60ml (G08.S.60) where the parts meet. It arrives white and can be painted any colour, including stone and marble effects. Gaudi call these decorative fireplaces: polyurethane is not a heat-resistant or fire-rated material, so check the clearances required around any live fire, stove or insert with your installer before fitting.
