Column 4.10.101

A Tuscan half column for the outside of the house, 2676 mm tall, 440 mm wide and 217 mm deep. It is half-round in plan, so it sits flat against the wall either side of a door or window. It has a plain Tuscan capital with a square moulded abacus over a smooth shaft, finished at the foot with a moulded base on a plinth. The set is made up of Capital 4.15.101, Shaft 4.16.101 and Base 4.17.101, and each part is also sold on its own. Check the overall height against the space before ordering; the shaft is the part to trim if you need it shorter.

Made in lightweight polyurethane foam, it won’t rot or swell in the rain the way timber can. Use Joint Adhesive 290ml (G07.S.290) or Joint Adhesive 60ml (G08.S.60) on the joints between the parts and Multipurpose Adhesive 290ml (G10.U.290) to fix it in place. Outdoors, finish it with a good exterior masonry paint once it is fixed; the painted finish protects the surface from sun and weather. Like all polyurethane decor it is decorative rather than structural: it cannot hold up a porch roof, canopy, balcony or any other load, so it must never stand in for a real column or post.
