A facade frieze (Gaudi call it a “Frise”), supplied in 2 m lengths: 170 mm high and 74 mm deep, with a boxed band finished with a slim moulded bead along the top. In a classical entablature the frieze is the calm, plain band between the cornice above and the architrave below; on a house it adds height and weight over a front door, a bay or a row of windows, and gives the mouldings around it room to stand out. Frieze 4.03.301 is the slimmer, flatter version of the same frieze, and Frieze 4.03.332 is the matching corner piece. To build the band below it, see architrave Frieze 4.04.302.

Gaudi make it in polyurethane foam, which is light, moisture resistant and supplied white so it can be painted to suit the house. Fix it with Multipurpose Adhesive 290ml (G10.U.290) and seal the joints with Joint Adhesive 290ml (G07.S.290) or Joint Adhesive 60ml (G08.S.60). Outdoors, finish it with a good exterior masonry paint once it is fixed; the painted finish protects the surface from sun and weather.
